La Sarena (Chile) 16 to 18 October 2004 Next a night bus to La Sarena, a beach town by the coast. The fact it's a small world was shown at the hostel when we ran into 3 people from Ireland.
"Where are you from?", "Leitrum & Killarney",  They then took on the shape of our drinking partners for a few days.  Not much done in La Sarena except walking along the beech in the hot October sunshine

Mendoza (Argantina) 19 to 23 October 2004 Cool town, heart of Argentina's wine producing area ....which can only mean one thing...a rake of good red wine. Highlight of time there - horse riding up in the mountains. Amazing views + a very large horse = a good time. After riding around for three hours we stopped for excellent bbq & picnic in the middle of mountain range. Just ourselves & 2 sound Americans....and two very large jugs of wine. One downside was an incident with a horse's arse - my horse went into another one just as it was `doing the business`- and I got a leg covered in muck - not a very pleasant sensation I can tell you.

Buneos Aires (Argentina) 24 to 28 October 2004 Big arse capital city, best food of the trip, plenty of wine, 12 lane wide streets and mental football fans.
- Another big city, quite European in feel, but really good. Highlight - watching River Plate football club play. large stadium full of crazy fans. Unbelievably passionate about the game. It had it all, penalties,  goals, cards, handbags etc. River Plate lost but their fans leapt about singing for the whole 90 mins.
