We arrived in Phnom Penh - capital of Cambodia and recent entry to the 'top ten worst cities in the world' list! The place was hot, dirty & full of the most crazy drivers I've ever seen - they only seemed to follow one rule - keep on the right hand side - and even then they weren't really following that! |

Cambodia has a very dark history & we spent a few days finding out more - we visited S21 - the former school turned into torture prisons by the Khmer Rouge & then took a tuk tuk out to the Killing Fields - a place where nearly 9,000 people were slaughtered and dumped in mass graves - both extremely chilling places - especially the tower of skulls, piled in age order, which stretched up as high as a four story building. We followed this by viewing the large Temples in the city centre - about 100 metres from some terrible slums was a 5ft Buda statue made of gold & covered with over 2,000 diamonds....makes you think. |

From Phnom Penh we travelled to the sea side town of Sihanoukville - a very nice place, with little to do except do nothing -
|
We had a good new year's evening and even tackled the roads ourselves on a moped. Highlight of this town was finding ourselves in a very dodgy bar with lot of old ladies trying to give us shoulder massages & calling me a "sexy man" (good to see they still had their eyesight :) ), they also had a stage with full length mirrors for dancing -
