We left Ubon a few days later
and
flew to Chaing Mai via Bangkok. A nice small city, with markets, temples
etc. We did a bit more nature & rocked an elephant ride here - fantastic
creatures - but not too comfy! We also tried bamboo rafting / sinking &
got very wet indeed - they barely float!

We then took an over night train
and
then a bus to Kanchanaburi, a town made famous by the film 'A bridge over
the river Kwai'. We stayed by the river being kept awake by party boats
(still going at 6am) and took in a tour of the Death Railway,
Hell's Pass and other nasty sounding places where many thousands
suffered...I think we've seen enough over the last few months to work
out things have not been good in Asia. |
